A cruise that must be made

Today we had to descend the 12 Bosley locks regardless of the weather. Monday we have visitors from America travelling up from London.
After a very wet night with violent thunder and lightning we woke early, and  we find it hard to believe but were cruising by 7.30am.
As we approached the services at the top of the locks Jaq popped her head through the hatch and informed me we had no cold water but the hot was fine so her washing machine was happily carrying on. Having run out of water our  timing was perfect as we were stopping for water and to off load some of the old wood from the DIY project.
More good timing was the arrival as we entered the top lock of the Macclesfield canal society to raise funds by operating all the locks for boaters. They had their Marquee erected part way down the flight selling books etc and a photo display of work they have performed along the canal.

We stopped off at the site of the fallen Beech that we found on the way up to Buxworth and loaded the roof with more rounds to be split at a later date. It will be nice when we return from the U.S. that our wood stock is healthy as by then winter will be upon us. Who knows with the summer being a washout winter might be dry and warm. Yes i know flying pigs etc. My lovely Alaskan born and bred wife says. " I am reading natures signs and they tell me of an early winter" There you are inside information from someone who has lived in temperatures 80F below, Brrrrrrrrr.
